Feathered fury in the UK

The first Angry Birds theme park in the UK is set to open 29th August. The park is based on the popular smartphone app Angry Birds. The announcement of the new attraction located at Sundown Adventureland in the Nottinghamshire countryside was made last March by Rovio, the Angry Birds developer company.

Back then Rovio said the British version of the Angry Birds Action Park, aimed at the under-10 crowd, would include a mixture of themed swims and roundabouts, several large play units, as well as a giant dummy catapult to replicate the Angry Birds world.

There's already an Angry Birds-themed attraction in Tampere, Finland, and an unofficial one in Changsha, China.

Angry Birds, the mobile app, was first released in 2009 by the Finnish computer game developer Rovio. Last year, the company reported that the mobile app had been downloaded 1.5 billion times. Early this year Apple revealed it had become the most popular paid app ever.

Aside from the theme parks, Rovio is also developing an Angry Birds cartoon series and a movie due in 2015. The company has also released a series of branded clothing and stuffed toys.
